The knowledge of converting a raw material into a useful product is highly
essential for all engineers. Engineers, whatever their line of work, must be proficient with certain basic aspects of manufacturing. However, it should not be forgotten that practice without theory is blind and the theory without practice is lame.Thus, workshop practice is a study and practice of the scientific principles underlying the art of manufacturing- an important subject for all I year B.Tech students to improve their skills in manufacturing activity that makes a better standard of living.
Mechanical Engineering Workshop is where students learn to operate various processes.The workshop experiences would help to build an understanding of the complexity of the industrial job, along with the time and skills requirements of it, the skill and knowledge of workshop practices help to solve a large number of real-life problems in day-to-day industrial as well as domestic life.
The workshop curriculum builds hands-on experiences which would help to learn manufacturing processes, irrespective of any discipline of engineering education. The students are advised to undergo each skill 
experience of all the major sections such as Carpentry, Fitting, Welding, Sheet metal, Electric Wiring and Moulding with remembrance, understanding and application with special emphasis on the attitude of inquiry to know why and how far various instructions and practices imparted to them in each shop.
