About the Department

SCIENCES & HUMANITIES

The Department of Sciences and Humanities started from the inception of the college. Knowledge in Basic Science is the base of Engineering. This Department is devoted to forwarding the fundamental principles and understanding of science to enhance the student’s basic knowledge in Engineering.

The Department constitute different subjects of study namely, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Environmental Science. The students of our college are highly benefited by the knowledge and experience of doctorates and well-experienced, highly qualified and dedicated faculty members.

The department has an English Language Communication Skills Lab with Walden Software, a physics lab, a Chemistry Lab and advanced department library facilities.

Additionally, the Department aims to remit the best for society by transmitting quality education to stimulate the spirit of probe in the students, a passion to acquire skills, and knowledge to enrich their lives to widen their intellectual and entrepreneurship qualities.

  • Departmental Activities:
  • Mentoring system, Anti- Ragging and disciplinary activities will be successfully carried on throughout the year so that every student will be nurtured with proper care and affection.
  • We develop an interest in students towards education, self-learning and practicals by a good method of teaching techniques and conducting sports, and social activities apart from studies are a part of our curriculum.

  • Laboratory Details

The Humanities and Sciences Lab has all the facilities to impart strong knowledge to the students in physics, Chemistry and English. .

Physics Lab

The department is equipped with a full-fledged laboratory and meets the needs of the students as per the JNTUA Curriculum. The first-year students are trained sufficiently to enhance their practical skills using meaningful experimental setups that provide valid quantitative measurement The physics lab is a space where students and researchers conduct experiments to explore the principles of physics. It typically contains equipment for measuring physical quantities like mass, velocity, and energy. Common activities include investigating mechanics, electricity, magnetism, thermodynamics, and optics, using sensors and instruments to collect quantitative data, and applying mathematical formulas to interpret results and draw conclusions.

The instruments in the Physics lab include:

  • Spectroscope
  • Travelling Microscope
  • Stewart’s Gee’s Apparatus
  • Laser light and diffraction grating
  • Semiconductor diode
  • Optical fiber
  • Torsional pendulum and Newton’s ring sets.

    Chemistry Lab

The department is equipped with a full-fledged laboratory and meets the needs of the students as per the JNTUA Curriculum. The first-year students are trained sufficiently to enhance their practical skills and are also provided with hands-on experience with sophisticated instruments. The Chemistry lab focuses on the study of matter, its properties, and reactions. It is equipped with various tools and substances for conducting experiments. Key aspects include Creating compounds or analyzing substances through methods like titration, chromatography, and spectroscopy and observing chemical reactions and changes in matter, often involving heat, colour change, or gas production. Adhering to safety protocols to handle chemicals safely, including wearing protective gear and knowing emergency procedures is a must in the Lab alongside Keeping detailed records of experiments, observations, and results for further study and validation.

    Major Equipment in the Laboratory:

    • Digital Photo colorimeter
    • Digital Spectrophotometer
    • Electronic Balance
    • Digital Potentiometer
    • Digital Conductivity Meter
    • Digital pH meter
    • Junker’s Gas calorimeter
    • Redwood Viscometer.

      EnglishLab

English Language Lab provides learners sustainable access to self-instructional and computer-aided language learning as a means complementary to the participation of students in various language development activities such as dialogues, role play, information transfer, and presentation. Language Lab creates an opportunity to learn the rudiments of group discussion and interviews through the multimedia lab. The language laboratory is equipped with Walden Educare English Communication Software, which aims to develop proficiency in English in the students in the following areas:

      • Vocabulary Building.
      • Reading Practices.
      • Listening skills
      • Group Discussion.
      • Telephonic Conversation.
      • Personality Development.
